The 2019 Dapeng Bay Yacht & Regatta Festival has got off to a bustling start. On the yacht port of the Dapeng Bay National Scenic Area today and tomorrow, apart from the spectacular performances, yacht display, and booths at the event, free keelboat sailing and boat tours around the lagoon are also available for visitors to sign up for. Tour packages at favorable prices, including the East Getaway Tour (accommodation plus activities), Sailboat and Kayak Experiences, and Dapeng Bay Lagoon Tours are made available through the integration of entities in the local marine tourism and recreation industry, letting visitors experience water recreational activities. The Maritime and Port Bureau (MPB) invites everyone to come and have a wonderful vacation with yachts, the sea, and music at Dapeng Bay!
Today, in addition to the rare showcasing of an entire keelboat fleet as well as the country’s largest regatta, great deals such as free boating experience, food and accommodation discounts have been made available too. The MPB is also demonstrating the "Yacht Application Service Platform" introduced on April 1, which enables yacht enthusiasts to apply for yacht arrival and departure and berths easily online. By integrating existing MTNet yacht entry and exit/arrival and departure systems, a website available in both Chinese and English has been set up to seamlessly provide foreigners in Taiwan with an environment that accommodates yacht activities. Just follow the steps "1. Log in 2. Entry 3. Select 4. Receive", which means "log into your account first; understand the information on port entry; easily select berths; and receive an email to complete the process", and you will be able to handle the application for yacht arrival/departure, and berths easily.
Director-General David Hsieh of the MPB states that Dapeng Bay offers three major business opportunities, including those of regattas and yacht industry supply chains, making Dapeng Bay the port in Southeast Asia offering the highest value at a low cost. Taiwan is abundant in resources for maritime tourism. To bring the public closer to yachts, yacht-promoting events have been held for 6 consecutive years. There will be continuous review and loosening of laws associated with yachts, as well as measures to facilitate decentralization and offer more convenience to the public. This is to enhance people’s understanding of yachts and to drive up the trend of recreational yacht activities. Furthermore, to raise the public's ethical awareness, the MPB has set up anti-corruption educational booths at the event. Participate in the games and complete the levels to win souvenirs. Everyone is welcome to participate.
A number of travel agencies and wedding-related businesses are at this year's event to offer many tour packages. The event also collaborates with 20 local business operators to give special offers. People are invited to visit Dapeng Bay on the Saturdays and Sundays of the three weeks following April 13. In addition, the MPB and The Pen Bay International Limited has set up a lighthouse exhibition at the festival between April 13 and April 28, during which 600 lighthouse postcards are offered. People can also make DIY lighthouse models and experience hands-on art activities.
