As maritime and port operations in many countries around the world gradually became privatized, the MOTC decided on March 1, 2012 to turn its four port authorities (Keelung, Taichung, Kaohsiung and Hualien) into the Maritime and Port Bureau (MPB) and the Taiwan International Ports Corporation, Ltd. (TIPC), in response to this global trend and to make these ports more competitive internationally. The MPB was established to be responsible for exercising public authority in maritime and port administration, while the TIPC focuses on the port’s business operations. Since being established, the MPB has actively participated in the operations of the International Maritime Organization, as well as implemented international laws and legislation accordingly, thereby making sea travel safer and promoting the development of the cruise and yacht industries; the Ports Corporation has, on the other hand, greatly improved the ports’ operation performance by focusing on developing port clusters.
The online celebrations on March 1 will kick off at 12:00 noon with an online livestream, and the whole event will continue until March 31st. We humbly invite everyone to visit the Facebook fan pages of the MPB (https://www.facebook.com/motcmpb.gov.tw/) and the Taiwan International Ports Corporation (https://www.facebook.com/twport/) to watch the full video and tune into the livestream. By taking screenshots of the stream and leaving comments, visitors will have the chance to enter a raffle for high-value electronic goods such as the iPhone 13, Airpods, multi-cookers, and blenders, along with 100 custom-made memorabilia products. Don’t miss out on this opportunity!
