For the purpose of aligning with the Executive Yuan’s extended policy on child care, the Maritime and Port Bureau (MPB), MOTC has spent almost two years on planning, refurbishing, and preparing a friendly workplace child care environment named the “Workplace Cooperative Educare Service Center, Taipei Port Administration Building” at the Taipei Port of Bali District in New Taipei City. This Center has become the first public sector workplace educare service center of Bali District. The 3 & 3 Life Education Foundation, which possesses a wealth of experience in non-profit preschool operation, has been commissioned to operate the Center. Officially opening today, the Center accepts enrollment of 2 to 6 year-old children of MPB employees, Taipei Port area staff, and nearby residents, with the aim of supporting employees to maintain balance between family and work.
Ho-Ting Huang, Secretary-General of MOTC mentioned that in order to respond to the increasingly low birth rate in Taiwan, which has become an issue of national security, the Executive Yuan has in recent years committed to promoting and expanding child care services for public sector employees. In line with the Executive Yuan policy, the MOTC established the “MOTC Guidelines for Promoting Public Child Care” on July 2, 2020. Certain units and subordinate agencies were invited to form the Project Management Working Group to plan and set up 50 classes in workplace cooperative educare service centers in 27 organizations and agencies under the MOTC. During the preparation period, they hold regular meetings to keep progress up-to-date in the organizations of the MOTC and provide assistance to overcome difficulties, resulting in a friendly child-raising environment that allows young generations to raise happy children and enhances national competitiveness.
Hsieh-Lung Yeh, Director-General of the Maritime and Port Bureau, stated
that the Workplace Cooperative Educare Service Center, Taipei Port
Administration Building plans to take in 2 classes of 60 young children between
the ages of 2 and 6 years old. Currently, there are 48 children
The establishment of the workplace cooperative educare service center of MPB Taipei Port Administration Building is expected to offer a more friendly workplace environment that will allow employees of the port area to maintain their posts without worrying about childcare. It will also increase friendly interactions between the MPB and local residents while helping parents improve work-life balance.
